Chocolate, cheese, honey & jams tour

Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta are the two most north-western regions of Italy where even today the culture of neighbouring regions of France, which once belonged to Italy, could be savoured and identified.

Our tour begins in the elegant Turin, a city of Romanesque origin, ancient residence of the royal family and the first capital of Italy. Walking around its streets you can see innumerable architectural styles and you can feel the inebriating scents of some of the most popular delicacies both in Italy and abroad: breadsticks and chocolate.

Here we enter the world of chocolate artisan laboratories that for several centuries have handed down the tradition of cocoa manufacturing and now produce the famous Gianduiotto, the sweet nibble that accompanies the perfect espresso most loved in Turin.

After leaving the city, we head to Valle d’Aosta, here the mountain scenery prevails. This region shows us its valleys and its mountains among which some of the highest peaks of Europe stand out. With its characteristic stone villages, its green alpine meadows in summer and its white ski slopes in winter, Valle d’Aosta is a popular and appreciated touristic area all seasons of the year.

And it’s here, in this small region of Northern Italy, that the famous Fontina DOP is produced. This cheese is the result of the processing of freshly minced alpine milk and of the seasoning in the historic caves. See the spectacle of the Fontina’s seasoning in the ancient caves digged into the mountains is an experience that remains imprinted in the mind. But the Valdosta culinary tradition does not end here: salami, Arnad lard, delicious honey and delicate wines satisfy also the most difficult of the palates.

Let’s leave the mountains to head east.

Our first stop is Biella, a city known for its Canestrelli Biellesi (sweet wafer and chocolate sheets), its castles, but above all Biella is known to be the home of the luxury textile Italian industry. Here, in fact, there are great fashion names, such as Ermenegildo Zegna, who study and create their garments and then export them to the best boutiques in the world.

We so arrive at Lake Maggiore, one of Italy’s most beloved and magical places. Wake up in the morning with the view of the lake and enjoy how its immutable tranquillity, relaxes your body and your mind. Thanks to its valleys made of large green meadows and large areas for pasture of animals, the whole territory of Lake Maggiore boasts a long tradition of dairy excellence. Blossom of flowers in the spring and the fresh air of the mountains allow the production of some of the best honey in Italy.

We end our tour with a short stop in the Monferrato, where a small local producer introduces us to the world of jams, exotic sauces and preserved vegetables.

Here, in the sweet hills of Monferrato, with its vineyards and its renowned wines we conclude our tour with a toast and an “Arriverderci!”

You will just Love It.
