Cheese, EVOO, Salumi and Tuscan Wine Tour

Tuscany. What to say about this wonderful region known all around the world for the romantic union of history, culture, art, and of course, the culinary scene. The land of some of the most famous and known cheeses in the world, home of the inimitable “Super Tuscan” red wines.

Our tour starts in Florence, the capital city, home of great artists and site of some of the most beautiful architectural works in the world. Here we discover the secrets of the traditional local cuisine with the help of those who, since centuries, pass them on from generation to generation.

Leaving the city behind us, we move to the postcard-perfect Tuscan countryside, with its vineyards, its handsome Renaissance villas, imposing stone castles and alleys boarded with cypresses.

Masters of Chianti, Nobile di Montepulciano, Brunello di Montalcino, let us enter their amazing world. They teach us their history and tell us the stories of their families. Delicious aperitifs in breathtaking landscapes, are accompanied by producer’s narration on techniques of viniculture and revelations about the secrets of these globally-celebrated wines.

Tuscany is also famous for Sheep Milk Cheese that we discover and taste directly at some of the best cheese producers in the area, where the finished product is just the result of the indissoluble union between the place, the nature, the animals and, of course, the people.

Cheese, wine and cured meat are the kings in this journey discovering the most ancient Tuscan culinary traditions. But we don’t forget to rediscover recipes of ancient cakes such as Panbriacone and Panforte, tasting them when they have just been prepared is just amazing.

Our next destination is Umbria, a small but very rich region in the center of Italy. Here we can find some of Italy’s most beautiful and historic villages. We will walk around Orvieto with its marvelous cathedral, around Assisi with its millenary history and Perugia, the capital of the region, still delimited by Etruscan walls.

Umbria is also the land of delicious products such as Truffles, Salami, Prosciutto and traditional dishes like La Crescia: a flour and water dough that has been cooked on the griddle and served with local cheeses and cold cuts.

We enter the Orcia Valley where the unmistakable scent of the earth and the roots of the tradition give life to one of the most unique products in the world: the extra virgin olive oil. We learn to know and understand its essence through the words of one of the most well-known and award-winning Italian producers.

Ending the tour with a delicious dinner surrounded by vineyards and olive groves will be just the perfect ending.

You’ll just love it.
